Micah 7:15-20 First Lesson
15. As in the days when you came out of the land of Egypt, show us marvelous things.
16. The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; they shall lay their hands on their mouths; their ears shall be deaf;
17. they shall lick dust like a snake, like the crawling things of the earth; they shall come trembling out of their fortresses; they shall turn in dread to the Lord our God, and they shall stand in fear of you. God’s Compassion and Steadfast Love
18. Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of your possession? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in showing clemency.
19. He will again have compassion upon us; he will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
20. You will show faithfulness to Jacob and unswerving loyalty to Abraham, as you have sworn to our ancestors from the days of old.

Romans 5:8-21 Second Lesson
8. But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.
9. Much more surely then, now that we have been justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from the wrath of God.
10. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life.
11. But more than that, we even boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Adam and Christ
12. Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death came through sin, and so death spread to all because all have sinned—
13. sin was indeed in the world before the law, but sin is not reckoned when there is no law.
14. Yet death exercised dominion from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sins were not like the transgression of Adam, who is a type of the one who was to come.
15. But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died through the one man’s trespass, much more surely have the grace of God and the free gift in the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abounded for the many.
16. And the free gift is not like the effect of the one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brings justification.
17. If, because of the one man’s trespass, death exercised dominion through that one, much more surely will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness exercise dominion in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
18. Therefore just as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all.
19. For just as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
20. But law came in, with the result that the trespass multiplied; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
21. so that, just as sin exercised dominion in death, so grace might also exercise dominion through justification leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Peter 2:17-24 Epistle
17. Honor everyone. Love the family of believers. Fear God. Honor the emperor. The Example of Christ’s Suffering
18. Slaves, accept the authority of your masters with all deference, not only those who are kind and gentle but also those who are harsh.
19. For it is a credit to you if, being aware of God, you endure pain while suffering unjustly.
20. If you endure when you are beaten for doing wrong, what credit is that? But if you endure when you do right and suffer for it, you have God’s approval.
21. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps.
22. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
23. When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.
24. He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

Mark 10:46-52 Gospel
46. They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside.
47. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48. Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49. Jesus stood still and said, “Call him here.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart; get up, he is calling you.”
50. So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus.
51. Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “My teacher, let me see again.”
52. Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way.
